Under the gracious patronage of Mr. Omeed Khoshnaw, the esteemed Governor of Erbil, Toyota Iraq and Sardar Group of Companies proudly announce a joint initiative to plant Sakura trees in Sakura Park in Erbil City. This initiative is part of our steadfast commitment to promoting sustainability and environmental care, reflecting our enduring message of strengthening cultural and economic ties between Japan and Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
With generous contributions from Mr. Sardar Al-Bebany, President of Toyota Iraq, and Chairman of Sardar Group of Companies, the tree planting has taken place on Thursday, March 14, 2024. It was attended by a diplomatic delegation from the Consulate of Japan, who had been played a prominent role in enhancing bilateral cooperation between our nations.
Sakura, or Japanese cherry blossoms, symbolize beauty and renewal, expressing joy and hope. As part of Erbil City, these trees will bear witness to the city’s development and progress, contributing to the beauty and tranquility of Sakura Park.
The selection of the Sakura flower comes as it has traditional and cultural importance within the popular heritage in Japan, as people throughout Japan participate in flower viewing every spring, following the traditional custom known as “Hanami” or “flower viewing”, where they enjoy the beauty of the blooming Sakura flowers, and Which is often associated with expressing youth and spring, similar to the Narcissus flower that blooms during the spring in Iraq, and the serenity it spreads in the souls of onlookers, which made it have a local symbolism that may be parallel to the symbolism of Sakura in Japan.
We at Toyota Iraq and Sardar Group of Companies take pride in participating in this significant environmental event, and we look forward to seeing its positive impact on the local community and the environment.
all interested parties and media outlets have joined us at this special event, where we had the honor to welcome and engage everyone in this unique experience.
