With the participation of over 250 business leaders and government officials from Iraq and the United Kingdom, the 13th Iraq Britain Business Council (IBBC) Conference took place on the second and third of June at the historic Mansion House in London.
The conference was inaugurated by Baroness Emma Nicholson, Chair of the IBBC, who welcomed the Iraqi delegation led by His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of
Oil, H.E. Hayan Abdul Ghani Al Sawad, and the representative of the Prime Minister, H.E. Mohammed Al Darraji. Senior British officials also attended, including Mr. Tim Reid, CEO of UK Export Finance, and Sir Nicholas Lyons, representative of the Lord Mayor of London.
As one of the foremost contributors to the development of the Iraqi economy, Sardar Group proudly participated as a key sponsor of the conference. Through such engagements, the Group aims to expand its international partnerships and support a more robust investment environment and long-term sustainable development in Iraq.
During the conference, Mr. Sardar Al-Bebany, Chairman & CEO of Sardar Group and a member of the IBBC, delivered a keynote speech highlighting the Group’s ongoing contributions to strengthening Iraq’s economic infrastructure. He underscored its strategic partnerships with renowned global brands such as Toyota and Jaguar Land Rover, as well as its steadfast commitment to human capital development. Sardar Group currently provides over 4,000 employment opportunities across the Iraqi market.
Mr. Steve Alexander, representing Sardar Trading Agencies, also participated in a focused session addressing the challenges of economic diversification. He emphasized the need for simplified procurement, better credit access, and investment in local talent. He further reaffirmed the Group’s role in job creation and economic advancement.
The conference explored several vital themes, including banking reforms, energy, education, and the investment climate, along with opportunities for cultural cooperation and the preservation of Iraq’s rich heritage
